Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) invites you to participate in our 17th Annual Designer Doghouse Competition & Auction this July 19th- 25th at the CAP Animal Shelter.
Now is the time to start designing and building your doghouse masterpiece! This is a great team-building service project for families, scouts, and volunteers wanting support or homeless animals that can be accomplished in small groups at home.
Challenge yourself to make your doghouse special with a "secret" or hidden door! Perhaps you've got an idea that upcycles old furniture or repurposed items. Show off your woodworking skills and your love of man's best friend. Painters, quilters, photographers, and crafters of all types, we need you too! Maybe you have an idea for a deluxe doggy daybed that will make any dog feel like royalty. Express your dog devotion through a work of art or item to be auctioned and perhaps gain a few customers for future commissions.
All proceeds benefit the homeless pets at CAP!
ENTRY RESERVATION DEADLINE: JULY 1, 2021 is the deadline for entry reservation.
ENTRY LIMITATIONS & RESTRICTIONS: Businesses and organizations are encouraged to brand their doghouse. All dog houses should fit an actual dog weighing a minimum of 20lbs. Contestants are asked to consider the final weight and size of their doghouse entry, dog houses that appear difficult to transport may not garner many bids. Consider adding wheels to the base to make transport even easier. Builders who have larger, heavier doghouse entries are strongly encouraged to offer FREE delivery within a reasonable distance of the venue to encourage bidding. No real fur or materials derived from animals such as hooves or horns are permitted.
SUBMITTAL DEADLINE FOR PROMOTIONAL MATERIALS: JULY 10, 2021. A full description of the doghouse and the name of the entry (creativity counts) that include special features, materials used and whether the entry is intended for indoor or outdoor use is required along with digital photos suitable for media publication.
DELIVERY TO COMPETITION: Contestants must deliver their physical entries to Citizens for Animal Protection between Monday, July 12th and Saturday, July 17th. All entrants will be advised by email of specific information and/or any change in delivery time, date or location.
LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF ENTRIES: Entries will be limited to the first 20 reservations received by Citizens for Animal Protection. In the event that additional entries are received on the same date at Citizens for Animal Protection, those entries will be placed in a drawing to fill the remaining entry spots. Multiple entries per company, group or individual are allowed and will be treated on a first come first served basis. Multiple entries may be limited depending on space availability.
ENTRIES ARE PROPERTY OF SPONSOR: All entries become the property of Citizens for Animal Protection. All entries will be sold during the auction will go to Citizens for Animal Protection and the thousands of homeless pets they care for each year. Winning bidders will take possession of the doghouses on the last day of the dog show upon payment.
PRIZE INFORMATION & DURATION: The contest will begin at the event on July 19, 2021, and will conclude on July 25, 2021, at the conclusion of the auction at 5pm. Winners will be awarded prizes in three categories: Kid’s Choice, People’s Choice Awards determined by the votes submitted at the event by the viewing public and Dixie’s Choice Award will be determined by CAP staff and volunteers. WINNER DECISIONS ARE FINAL.
