Miscellaneous Information

Citizens for Animal Protection is a Houston area private, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides shelter, adoption, foster care, lost and found and other valuable services. CAP also provides humane education and community outreach programs to encourage love and respect for animals.

CAP Shelter Adoption Hours


- Sunday - Monday - Tuesday: 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM
- Wednesday - Friday - Saturday: 11:00 AM to 6:00 PM
- Thursday: 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM

- Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Year's, and July 4th

Receiving Animals

Daily from 10am to 3:30pm  (Closed on Thursdays)

Due to the overwhelming number of animals that CAP receives each day, we cannot accept animals after 3:30 pm. Prior to coming to CAP please call and we can tell you if we are accepting animals that day.

All animals must be spayed/neutered by the time of adoption. To be eligible for adoption, kittens must be at least two pounds in weight and puppies must be eight weeks of age.

Reclaiming Animals

- Every Day: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
- Closed: Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, New Year's and July 4th

Cornelius Clinic

- Saturday - Monday - Wednesday: 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM
- Thursday: 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM
