This starving Beagle was one of the THOUSANDS of animals left behind by their owners when the humans evacuated for Hurricane Katrina. The agony these animals suffered was horrendous. A volunteer with Pasado's Safe Haven attempts to save this little Beagle. Photo by Pasado's Safe Haven.

NEVER leave behind your animal in an evacuation.
If it is not safe for you to stay,  then it is NOT safe for your animal to stay!

A disaster is not an excuse to abandon those for whom we are responsible.

We should always remember that animals ALSO feel pain and experience fear,
and suffer every bit as much as we do.  They also die.

PLEASE take your pet and their supplies(food, leash & etc.) with you in an evacuation.
If it is not safe for you to stay,  then it is NOT safe for your animal to stay!
