Welcome to CAP!

kappy muenzer Dear Friends of Animals,

I would like to take a moment of your time and welcome you to the website for Citizens for Animal Protection. I have three wishes for your visit. First, that enough information has been provided to answer any questions you might have about our organization’s programs and services. Second, that anytime in the future you might be thinking of a new pet companion, you will look for that pet at our shelter or on our website. Third, that you will understand the need for neutering and spaying companion animals to prevent the future birth of animals who will not find homes.

The staff and volunteers of Citizens for Animal Protection work tirelessly to make a difference in the lives of pets and people. I am proud of each and every one of them, because they do make a difference. Last year CAP sheltered and cared for 12,450 homeless, rescued and abandoned animals and helped thousands of people with pet-related situations.

Spurred on by an ever growing demand for our services, the need for more space and the fact that our current location is leased, CAP's board of directors has approved building our first permanent home. I am delighted to tell you that we have completed the first phase of our Capital Campaign with the purchase of 3.5 acres of park-like land at I-I0 and Barker/Clodine Road. I hope those of you who can, will help CAP meet its goal to build our new shelter facility for pets and people in the Houston metropolitan community. If you want to help us make our dream come true, I would deeply appreciate an opportunity to tell you more about CAP's campaign, Building a Brighter Future for Pets and People.

I hope you will stop by our shelter, visit the animals for adoption and meet our wonderful staff and volunteers--CAP is open 7 days a week. We will welcome you any day, any time, during our operational hours!!

Yours for the animals,
Kappy Muenzer
Executive Director

I made a search request online and shortly thereafter received an e-mail alert that a female dog under 25 pounds was at CAP. I e-mailed and called to say I was on the way. One year old Madison was a nervous ball of energy! She came home with me the next day and became an instant sister to my two year old Sweet Pea. Every day has been a blessing that includes Maddie. If you are thinking of adding a pet to your family, check at CAP first.
