Feral Cat Emergency

donate-FCAP

For the last ten years, CAP has operated a humane program for doing trap-neuter-return (TNR) with feral cats in the Houston area.  The Feral Cat Assistance Program (FCAP) is one of the only TNR programs in Houston and the only one to offer public assistance.  FCAP has become so popular that we are doing quadruple the work we were doing in years prior to last year, and more than twice the spay/neuter surgeries.  Because of the strain placed on the staff and resources of CAP, particularly during the breeding season, FCAP needs emergency relief in order to continue to meet the demand to humanly assist feral cat colonies in the Houston area.

feralBecause of past donors' compassion and generosity, FCAP was able to provide trapping and altering of 2684 feral cats in 2009! FCAP also helped to directly reduce the number of adult ferals, too, since feral kittens caught young enough are then tamed by our volunteers and placed for adoption.  We desperately need your help again this year to continue our mission to further reduce the feral cat population and end needless animal suffering.

A gift to FCAP goes a long way ... just $38 spays and/or neuters, vaccinates, deworms and eartips a feral cat for identification purposes! FCAP is a proponent of the trap-neuter-return colony management philosophy. By neutering and vaccinating these cats and then replacing them in their existing colonies with their caretakers, we save THOUSANDS of unwanted births and control the size of the colonies to keep them from becoming a community problem. We believe that population control, not euthanasia of these cats, is the ultimate solution to the feral cat problem. We have a dedicated group of volunteers who give thousands of hours of their time to assist with this important effort.

In order to be able to continue our vital Feral Cat Assistance Program, we rely totally upon generous donors. CAP's funding for our FCAP program is currently stretched to the limit, and donations are urgently needed now to prevent the births of more kittens this spring! Please consider supporting this vital humane program.  CAP will put donations to immediate use to improve the quality of life for these cats, prevent the births of more litters and put Metropolitan Houston on the road to SOLVING its feral cat problem!
