Youth Volunteers in Action
Youth program volunteers have been having fun and getting sun while helping Houston's homeless animals at CAP. The youth volunteers participated in the June dog wash at five different locations at Whole Food Markets around the city. Fifty-three youth volunteers washed doggies, small and large, and accepted donations benefitting CAP. CAP alumni dogs and new dog friends reveled in the suds and summer weather. Community friends of Sugarland Levi’s store volunteered and made the Sugarland dog wash a furr-tastic event! Youth volunteers also helped at the recent Reliant Dog Show. Teenagers and families built a dog house and manned the craft table for making paper bag dog puppets and promoting CAP.
Congratulations to Girl Scout Setu Shah, Girl Scout Troop 465, who earned her Girl Scout Silver Award by helping homeless animals from the CAP shelter. Earning over forty hours of service, Setu obtained her award through recognizing CAP's essential and hard-working foster volunteers who care for dogs and cats that require extra attention. Setu presented the CAP fosters with foster care packages that included much-used items such as a big, fluffy towel, decorated dog bowl, brush, toys, food and a pink apron with “Please Adopt Me” painted on it.
CAP thanks all of our dedicated and energetic youth volunteers for their time, spirit, and most of all, love for the animals!
