The Rescue of Bitsy-Angel

Bitsy-Angel (named by CAP staff) appears to be a Toy Wire-Haired Chihuahua. A group of children saw someone throw Angel from a car and brought the injured dog home. The parents brought Bitsy-Angel to Citizens for Animal Protection for the care she desperately needed.

Angel’s condition was very dire. She weighed less than one pound and was in the last stages of starvation. When placed on the floor, Angel walked around in tight circles (a sign of long-term confinement to a small cage). Dr. Fix at Nottingham Animal Clinic determined that Angel is probably the victim of a puppy mill. Angel also has some swelling of the brain, probably due to being thrown from the car and an infection is ravaging her little body.

Well the good news is....the CAP office staff, who have all fallen in love with this tiny creature, have officially adopted Angel with the blessing of Kappy, CAP's executive director. BJ is taking Angel home in the evenings and providing the medications and care that she needs. During the day, JoAnne, Darci and other office staff are taking turns having Angel visit in their offices.

In just three days, Angel has gained a half pound and the circles are beginning to widen. At times she even walks in a straight line. Yesterday she wagged her tail!

Stay tuned for status updates and pictures of Bisty-Angel's progress. We know that all the love and attention that Bitsey-Angel is receiving now will change her live around and she will never be mistreated or neglected ever again.

God bless the children who saw the heinous act that could have been fatal to Angel, and the mother who brought her to CAP! This precious little girl ended up at the BEST place possible, and I feel certain that everyone who reads her story will wish nothing but the very best for her in the future. I wish I could have been there to witness it: I would have pursued whoever it was, and had the police onto them in the process...NO creature deserves to be abandoned or mistreated in any way: enter Karma!
