The CAP Pet Art contest is open to all elementary, middle and high school students with prizes awarded by grade level. Elementary kids can share their love of pets by showing off their growing artistic drawing and painting skills. Middle schoolers can help save the day by designing adoption superheroes or promoting pet wellness. High school students are challenged to think outside the box- create drawings, collages, sculptures or photographs to send a positive message and promote pet adoption.

  • Judging and Art Show takes place Saturday, May 16, 2015

Submission Categories

Elementary School ~ Make art about pets! It can be a painting or drawing of a cat, dog, or other pet
and can be as fun or abstract as the artist wants to be. The goal is to show how much we love pets
and what they mean to us as family members.

Middle School ~ Make art about proper pet care or design animal adoption superheroes! Be inspired and show how to keep pets safe and healthy in poster or collage form. This can be related to basic pet care like: food, water and shelter; proper medical care like regular vaccinations; lost and found pets (microchipping, lost flyers, etc) OR design your own adoption superhero to help save and rescue homeless pets. Superhero submissions can be in poster or graphic novel/comic form as long as it is a single page submission (no multiple page books).

High School ~ Get creative! Create a painting, drawing, collage, sculpture or photograph to promote animal adoption. Think outside the box, make it eye catching with a positive message, and draw people in to adopting animals with your creativity.

Art will be judged on the following criteria: creativity and how the art incorporates or reflects the vision of animal welfare (pet health and adoption). The art will be judged by a panel of CAP staff and local Houston celebrities. There will be a runner-up and first place for each grade level as well as honorable mentions. Prizes will be awarded!
