The Tuesday before Thanksgiving the shelter animals at Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) will enjoy a special Thanksgiving treat from their friends at Rover Oaks Pet Resort. The animal-loving staff at Rover Oaks will spend the week roasting turkeys at their Houston and Katy resorts and, to celebrate "Turkey Day", they will hand-deliver the tasty treat to the animals who will spend the holiday in the CAP shelter, awaiting their forever homes."
Joy Lee and Steve Smith, co-owners of Rover Oaks Pet Resort, began this tradition five years ago and the CAP employees are thrilled when they arrive at the shelter with the delicious, smell of home cooked turkeys. The sounds of excited barking and meows, wagging tails, jumping and twirling fur babies greets everyone as they race to hand out the tasty morsels. I think maybe a few employees even sneak a taste!" JoAnne Jackson, Director of Operations stated with a smile.
Joy Lee, a long-time volunteer for CAP, says, “When you see the loving care that our clients give their pet companions each day, it breaks your heart to know that thousands of wonderful shelter pets won’t enjoy that same happiness this Thanksgiving. We wanted to do something special for the pets at CAP and give them a holiday treat too.” “It is so rewarding to be able to brighten the holidays for these loving animals,” said Steve Smith, co-owner of Rover Oaks Pet Resort. “We strongly encourage everyone to visit the animals at CAP and consider adopting, volunteering or donating to this great organization.” The staff at CAP invites you to come and meet their furry friends, all of whom would be most thankful for a happy, safe and loving home for the holidays!
