Buddy_Adopted_Gone_10-09SmBuddy was a VERY sweet Beagle who was adopted from CAP on 1-31-04 at about age 5 years and lived to be over 10 years old. He is very much missed by his human companion Bo.

RabbitRori909aSmRabbitRori909bSmAmanda writes, "Rori has been such a wonderful addition to my life. He is always so inquisitive and loving. He loves lettuce and carrots, jumping on my bed in the morning to wake me up and dig a little blanket nest, and hopping under my feet when I'm on the couch to get pet. The way to his heart is through a big juicy radish. He quickly found his way into mine without veggie bribery."

Glynda Cali_9-09_8Smprovided this upate on her adopted cats.
Cali is a female Calico. She is 8 years old. She was originally adopted by a family that had kids and dogs and it must have been too much for her. She was returned to CAP at about 6 months of age. She had a sign by her cage that she needed a peaceful environment and that is exactly what she got with me. She will not sit in my lap and likes to be petted, but on her own terms.
She is very smart. She spends a lot of time sleeping near me or watching TV with me.

Torby_9-09_LiCutSmTorby is a gray Tabby. He has a very big body and a very small head. He weighs 18 pounds. He has so much fur, he needs help maintaining it. When I chose him at CAP, he was very frightened with all the noise. The peaceful environment in my home is a good place for him. Torby will be 7 years old next month. Recently, my vet suggested a lion cut for Torby. After he got all the fur cut, he was so proud. He has become more sociable and his fur is under control at last.

Trooper_9-09_8_SmTrooper is my baby. He is a gray Tabby but he is very long, with very short legs. He has the cutest hair tufts sticking out of his ears. He was found when he was a few days old with maggots all over him. Jeanne Dunn was his foster mother. I often wonder if when he looks in the mirror, he sees a person instead of a cat. Every time I sit in a chair, he is immediately in my lap. When I work on the computer, he sleeps in a box on my desk. When company comes, he lies in the floor, rolls over on his back and shows everyone his belly (that must mean something to cats). Trooper will be 6 years old next month.

hampton-1hampton-2.jpgThis is Hampton. He is one from the polydactyl litter, formerly Punkins. He is the sweetest kitty ever!! He has 8 toes on both front paws!! We adopted him on August 8th so he is a little over 5 months old now and he is the perfect addition to our family. He is so much fun to play with and so cute once he's worn himself out and ready for a nap. He seems to enjoy his serenades from my daughter and also has gotten along with our dog, Hannah. He is too sweet!

Ghengis is the PERFECT addition to my household dog family. My 13 year old female collie, Angel and I raised a Rottweiler Huskey mix puppy named Trinity. Trinity is 10 months old now and a handful. She needed a playmate besides the elderly collie who hadn't the energy to keep up.I was looking for another younger, male dog.  While waiting to pick up Angel from vet, I walked over to CAPS "just to take a look". And there was a male poodle mix, not too small but not big either, quietly sitting in his kennel, peering at me through some awful mats on his face. His eyes were thoughtful, calm and intelligent as he looked at me.  I had to get Angel home and comfortable from her surgery,  ....  When I went back to CAPS and walked through the door, he was still there! He looked at me as I walked in with that same calm look. I knew he was meant for me at that moment.  I named him Dude Lunes. He is white with light silver gray spots all over and looks like the moon. He is quite a dude. He won Trinity's heart within 2 minutes of meeting her (and she is not an easy sell) and spends every chance he gets playing with her. They tire each other out and fall asleep together. (see photo)  Trinity is so happy with her new friend. Angel is happy that she isn't getting knocked down anymore and can sleep. I'm happy to have a dog who likes to cuddle on the couch and who is so smart he learns what I want from him with lightning speed. Lunes is so happy to have a home and family.     Janet

Tina_Dog_Grad_8-9_CrIt was only a few months after I put my thirteen year old Yorkie to sleep, that I realized I needed another dog.  I went to Petsmart and they had just released their last dog to be adopted and ohhh she looked so cute!  All week I looked forward to getting there early enough to get my pick of the pups.  On Valentine's Day, I was thrilled to see I was the first one ... then all of a sudden other people started to mull around the area.  I wondered if I need to start a sign in sheet, so they all would know who was first!  But I chilled, as CAP brought in all these caged animals.  One by one they were put into more sturdy cages as everyone hovered over them.  I noticed one little black pup at the bottom of the shipment and asked the gal if I could have THAT one.  She gave me permission to open the cage and take her out.  Well, that was all I needed, and as everyone came over to see her, I'd tell them she was already taken. I hadn't even seen her stand yet - but she was perfect!  Now my eight month old ValenTINA has completed three dog classes and is everything I wanted in a new friend. Thanks Caps for all your time and energy helping these homeless pets.  I love bragging about y'all and encourage others to seek you out.   Joan

TeddiAWasMystique79SmMy family and I adopted Teddi (formerly Mystique) about 2-1/2 years ago.  We had lost our wonderful Tigger to a brain tumor.  We adopted 8-year old Tigger from CAP and enjoyed her for 5 years. .... We adopted her and we are dealing with her issues.  We believe that when you bring an animal into your home, you are making a commitment to care and love for that animal.  Teddi is a wonderfully affectionate cat who loves to stare deep into your eyes for as long as you let her.  She has been a wonderful addition to our family. Eileen

Gracie_7-6-09_01SmGracie_7-6-09_02SmWe adopted Gracie in October of 2008. she was a survivor of a hurricane  .... since then, we have moved to South Carolina and Gracie loves it. She is a great dog and one of the family now as she reaches a year old. We couldn't be happier with her.
Tonka_6-9TUTonka_AtPark_6-9SmTonka has been a wonderful addition to our family and has fitted in just fine. Since he left CAPS he has gained an additional 10 pounds putting him a little over 85 pounds, a healthy  weight.  Some of our favorite activities are playing catch with a *ball  or Frisbee, time at the dog park, or just laying around the house.   Ruben
* NOTE: Ball warning - Balls should be appropriate for your dog's size.  Balls that are too small can easily become lodged in your dog's throat or be swallowed.   Safety Info. from HSUS.
Benji_WasCalledSquiggy_5-09Sm
We adopted Benji was called Squiggy in May 2006.  We were told he was at the shelter for nine months. Now he is four and has been with us for three years.  We already had a big dog, and they are best friends.  As you can see from this picture, Benji had no time adjusting to "human" life.  The first night we had him, he jumped in the bed to go to sleep.  He loves to play with his toys, run in the backyard with his brother, go on runs with me and take plenty of naps. He is full of personality and always makes us laugh.  We could not have asked for a better fit in our family and our other dog is glad to have a lifetime friend and playmate.  Trisha and Robert
