Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) is hosting our annual summer gala, “Mr Magoo’s We are the Champions” on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the Bayou City Event Center.  This event was named after a very special cat that was brought to CAP over 20 years ago after being in an abusive situation.  He became our shelter mascot, living in the office area until he passed away in 2010.

To honor Mr. Magoo, this fun and unique event was created to raise much needed funds during the summer months when our funds are lowest and intake is at its highest.  This year, we are proud to honor Big Fix Houston, a project of Unity For A Solution and Sonia Soto, community volunteer who gives an extraordinary amount of love, compassion and time to helping animals in the Greater Houston area.

The event is expected to draw more than 250 supporters and raise more than $150,000, which allows us to continue providing high quality services such as sheltering animals, adoptions, humane education, low cost spay/neuter surgeries and vaccinations for the community, and more.

We would love to have your support by purchasing a table or ticket, or by donating an item for our live or silent auction, including sporting event tickets, gift cards, gift certificates from your business, or perhaps a unique trip or experience.

Kids love animals and CAP loves kids! Every last Friday of the month CAP will host a Kid's night at CAP. Our teen volunteers and CAP staff will entertain the first 50 kids that arrive at CAP from 6:30PM till 9:30PM.

Go to a movie! Enjoy a dinner out at a restaurant that doesn't feature chicken nuggets. Catch up with your adult friends! Heck their kids can hangout at CAP too. You deserve a break! Kids 6 and up are welcome for a donation of $15 (or more if you're inclined) per child. Animal themed FUN & games will keep the kiddos entertained and kid approved dinner is included*. NO reservations required. Limit of 50 kids.

Kid's Night dinner is donated by local businesses.  A typical meal might include cheese pizza, chicken tenders, spaghetti or corn dogs. CAP asks that parents of children with food allergies or specific dietary needs to provide their own child’s food and drink labeled with the child’s name. We also ask children not share or pass any food or snacks. There are also 3 vending machines with a variety of juice drinks, soda and snacks available for purchase by you or your child ranging from $0.50 to $1.50.

Citizens for Animal Protection, CAP, strives to encourage the curiosity, optimism and exuberance of children -- traits often found in our furry pups and kittens! Help your child discover the joy and wonder of befriending animal companions while in the company of other kids that share their natural love of pets. All proceeds raised benefit the many homeless pets cared for at the CAP Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center.

A big thank you to West Houston Subaru and customers who designated CAP as their charity of choice - you raised $60,000 during the Share the Love event (with an additional $25,000 from West Houston Subaru for 2017 adoptions)!

A big shout out to our 2016 CAP Kids Club members who built 23 outside feral cat shelters for our FCAP volunteers!  We had an early cold snap and these 6-13 year old children did their part to help these community cats stay warm for the winter. CAP Kids prove even the smallest hands can help care for creatures great and small. Invite your child to join us at our next meeting this 2/12 at the CAP Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center from 1-3PM.
